Incredibly, the vocalist on the deck of this Warship plays the drums as well. I say 'incredibly' because for much of the album he howl/screams with such head-shredding venom that doing anything other than hanging onto a microphone stand for dear life would seem impossible. But Francis Mark manages it. There's undeniable power here, with the band being reminiscent of Nirvana during their more metal moments. Mark's screeching is also close to Cobain's angst-ridden howls but even more jarring on the brain and ears, if that's possible.
Wounded Paw, Where's Your Leash and Lousy Horoscope provide a respite from the onslaught, before the second half ploughs on with more grunge-metal riffs and attack-of-the-undead singing. If you were in a particularly angry mood, this album might make things worse - although you could play it to drown out the noise of therapeutically smashing furniture to pieces, I suppose. Thumbs-up for titling a song Fetus Flytrap, though. Maybe it's not all horrors.
