A veteran to the music scene, David Holmes has recently released his fourth solo album 'The Holy Pictures.' The album is a mix of electronic/ psychedelic/ pop that is sure to hit home with some people. Tracks like 'I Heard Wonders' (which was the single release), 'Holy Pictures' and the softer instrumental 'Ballad of Sarah and Jack' stand out in my mind, however there seems to be a lot of filler on the album that just washes over me.
There are evidently a lot of influences running through the album, Holmes' main inspiration coming from his life spent in Belfast. There is something very personal about the album that allows the listener to connect, if they so wish. Overall, it's a promising album with some good standout tracks.
