Anyone who read my recent review of Micah P Hinson's album - And the Red Empire Orchestra, will know I am a fan, and I have subsequently backed this up by seeing him live a couple of times. His unique voice, his great story and his wonderful country tinged songs make him an artist that was bound to get my attention sooner or later. We Won't Have to be Lonesome is one of the outstanding tracks from the new LP, which is obviously why they have released it, it's adorned with strings and beautiful arrangements, in a similar vein to Richard Hawley who he has toured with.
I prefer the uncut version of the track so the edit, but they're both good versions in their own rights. I can't recommend Micah P Hinson highly enough, he's of a similar ilk to M. Ward and Richard Hawley, both of whom I highly regard and I hope this album pushes Micah in to the limelight a bit more, now his life is back on track.
