Five guys from Newcastle UK, two brothers on guitar and vocal duties, add a good production mix and you have Apollo. Very melodic, clean sounding and quite radio friendly songs not a million miles away from Snow Patrol.

The vocal range is great, I could swear there is an Irish accent in there, the brothers can sing to be honest and there is nothing lacking to their sound. They don't sound like a straight copy of anyone really, which is only good for them; instead there are various points of interest. They have a support slot coming up to "Hamfatter" on the 24th September 2008 in Newcastle, worth turning up early for if you happen to be going along to that gig.

Electric chorus and clean layers that compliment each other well throw an acoustic in there and good melody and you have a solid sounding track. The drums could be more pronounced, and the vocals do take over such is the strength of the singing, but I have a feeling this is what the band want to sound like, if I could sing like that I'd want it to be known.

Of the two songs given, "This Is My Town" does stick out as a single; it's the more powerful of the two. After a few listens I'm interested, but also just a little tired too. Apollo do come across similar to the middle of the road indie music out there at the moment, but I don't mean to slate them entirely there is a good band here, possibly a few more tracks would have sealed it one way or the other for me but for now, they don't stand out that much.

Catch the MySpace and have a listen.
