Leeds based Wind Up Birds have been going for six years, and this is their sixth EP. Without meaning to sound too harsh, it's not entirely surprising that you've never heard of them. They've got that authentic unsigned band feel too them and the punk like Indie certainly doesn't win too many points for them.

It's not to say that The Wind Up Birds are bad, it's more that they come across as rather average. The opening two tracks have a bit of promise in at least a song sense, but after the relative high point of 'The Families of The Disappeared' it starts to get a bit messy.

Quite what they hoped to achieve with the disjointed country jangle of 'Bailiff's' is certainly lost on me and then to be followed up with the punk of 'Neutral Countries' sounds like something I had to endure when friends went through their band stage. All in all full credit for doing something they love, it's just not very good.
