Review - TV Smith - In The Arms Of My Enemy

TV Smith - In The Arms Of My Enemy

3 out of 10

If we were to compare this record with that of some of Smith's earlier work, then we would be on completely opposing ends of the musical spectrum. Gone are the 3 chord pogo anthems of his days in The Adverts and in their place there is something a lot more brooding and retrospective. Where as there would be restless barks, there are now more swaying chants of YADA YA, YADA YAYS. The album plods along at a nice enough pace and in some parts invokes a sense of being on a dusty porch in Hick County USA, yet in others it reminds you of what Justin Sane of Anti Flag might sound like 30 years down the line. As with most "former members of x punk rock band gone solo" this record leaves a lot to be desired, especially the ridiculous amount of over production. Definitely one to buy for your Dad's birthday.
