"It was 1989, my thoughts were short, my hair was long."

Ah, all-American rock radio - you've got to love it. Following a disappointing non-appearance at this year's Download Festival (Which was okay in the end because we received an extra ten minutes each from Disturbed, Motorhead and Judas Priest), Detroit's favourite son, Mr Kid "I-used-to-be-Mr-Pamela-Anderson" Rock is back - with another summer rock anthem based on someone else's song. It seems that despite some fleeting moments of musical excellence - Cowboy, Bawitdaba, etc. - Kid Rock's best efforts occur when he adapts an already established rock classic such as Metallica's 'Sad But True' (American Bad Ass) and now Lynrd Skynrd's 'Sweet Home Alabama'.

Twenty two million albums and 9 years into his mainstream career, I can't help but feel it's time for Mr Rock to move forward - his original stuff is decent, let's hear more of it Kid.
