Dr. John - City That Care Forgot

7 out of 10

Dr John's latest offering City That Care Forgot is exactly what I would imagine would come out from him. A laid back jazzy funk sound that still has biting lyrics about the state his hometown of New Orleans was left in after Hurricane Katrina. You can certainly hear from those lyrics how much hurt he still feels about New Orleans, or should that be hoyt?

The sound of New Orleans is very much alive in this album especially in the big band epic that is My People Need A Second Line. With such luminaries as Eric Clapton and Willie Nelson contributing, this is one special album and the production is nothing short of amazing.
